The GAA Winter Training Ban will continue to be for the months of  November and December after a decision by delegates to the GAA Congress this afternoon.

The motion from the Portarlington club in Laois proposed that the training ban be just in place for the month of November.

However, this motion was defeated by 46% to 54% after delegates voted electronically.

After the result was made known GAA President Christy Cooney stated that he wished for counties to fully adhere to the two-month ban in place.

“I would appeal to you to ensure that this break from training is fully adhered to by all counties,” he said.

In other news match bans will be trialled instead of time-based bans in the Allianz League this year.

Referees will no longer be asked to review video evidence of incidents during games by the Competitions Control Committee.
