In the women’s final of the Canon Kirk Homes Irish Open, the tournaments number four seed Nour El Tayeb defeated the number three seed Jaclyn Hawkes of New Zealand.

18 year old El Tayeb took the match three games to two, in a record breaking one hour and 50 minutes of exhilarating play.

Following on from the excitement of the women’s match, Egypt’s Tarek Momen faced Stewart Boswell of Australia hoping to continue on from the success of his Egyptian counterpart.

It was always going to be a hard task for the unseeded Momen, as the number one seed for the championship Boswell had been in good form leading up to final.

The game started off tight and tense with not much to seperate the two men.

However it was the young spirited Momen who edged into the lead and never looked back, eventually beating the experienced Australian three games to one to cap a triumphant day for Egyptian squash.
