The largest Féile in Dublin was held last weekend with over 900 girls taking part. Kilmacud Crokes (Div 1), St Jude’s (Div 2), Scoil Ui Chonaill (Div 3) and Westmanstown Gaels (Div 4) won their respective divisions. Kilmacud Crokes and St Jude’s will now represent Dublin at National Féile in Cork.
It’s a busy weekend ahead on the Inter County scene with both the Dublin U16 and Minor teams in action in the Leinster championship. Dublin U16’s play Wexford on Saturday @ 2pm in Pairc Ui Murchu while the Minor team take on Westmeath also in the Leinster championship on Easter Monday @ 2pm in Clann Mhuire GAA club, Naul.
Bord Gáis Energy NFL:
The Dublin senior team beat Cavan in the semi-final of the NFL.The Dubs will now take on Meath in the division 2 final on May 7th venue and times TBC. The Dublin LGFA requested all Dublin clubs to give their 100% support to the girls by having as many players and members in attendance at the final.
Kick Outs Rule Change:
Rule 496 was changed at Congress this year and the new version of this rule will comes into effect from Saturday the 9th of April.
Rule 496 to read: For the kick out from goal after a wide in all competitions the ball may be kicked from the hands or off the ground, from the thirteen meter line. All players shall be at least thirteen metres from the ball until it is kicked. The ball must cross the twenty metre line, before being played by another player. Where another player offends, a free shall be awarded to the opposing team on the twenty metre line opposite, to where the foul occurred. Note: the kick out for a score is still from the 20m line.
