The Tyrone County Board are set to launch an investigation into an incident in the club game last weekend that left county star Joe McMahon with a broken jaw.
McMahon was playing with his local team, Omagh St Enda’s when he sustained the injury following an off-the-ball-incident in the first half of the match against Moortown. The utility player underwent surgery in hospital on Sunday night, and it was subsequently confirmed that he had suffered a broken jaw in two places and some of his teeth were knocked out.
“It was a shocking incident. The fact that he is an inter-county player has obviously brought a lot of attention to it. But an incident like that shouldn’t be happening full stop on our playing fields no matter who the player is,” said Tyrone County Chairman Ciarán McLaughlin.
