Peter Toole was moved from the intensive care unit, to the high dependency unit of Liverpool’s Walton Centre, on Thursday afternoon.
The Irish born jockey has been in a critical condition since falling from Classic Fly in a novice chase at Aintree on Grand National day.
The young rider’s condition is described as stable, and he will continue to undergo treatment at the centre for neurology and neurosurgery. It is still early days and medical staff are continuing to monitor Toole’s progress but he has gradually improved since waking from a coma earlier in the week.
Karen Sharpe, Injured Jockeys’ Fund almoner, said: “Visiting hours in this ward are very limited and hence it would be helpful if any friends hoping to visit Peter could make contact with either myself or his parents before travelling to Liverpool.”g
