The second round of the Nicky Rackard Cup takes place this weekend, with two games down for decision.
London are the visitors to Dundalk,to take on the home team Louth, while in Swords,Monaghan clash with the local side,Fingal. The latter two counties both received a bye on the opening weekend of the competition and have yet to puck a ball in anger. Meanwhile, London enjoyed a narrow two point victory over Roscommon in Ruislip. Their opponents on Sunday,Louth, enjoyed a huge victory away to Sligo,on a scoreline of 4-18 to 1-7.
Monaghan were no match for Fingal when the two sides met on the opening afternoon of the National League back in February, and the home side emerged with a 4-18 to 0-13 victory. It is difficult to see anything other than a similar outcome this weekend and Fingal have to be a confident selection.
In the other game, Louth should prove too strong for London. This is a difficult game to call, as the emigrants undoubtedly have plenty of talent in their ranks. Whether they are prepared to give their all at this stage of the season is open to question and a hesitant vote goes to the home team.
Verdict: Fingal and Louth.
