Meath defeated Carlow 1-17 to 1-03 in Friday night’s “back-door” game in the Leinster Minor football championship to claim a quarter final spot in the Leinster MF Championship.

A strong start by the Meath men set the tone for a 14 points win as they raced in to a four point lead in the first 11 minutes.

Davy Dalton’s never looked back from there going in at half time 0-7 points to 0-3  up and that was as close as Carlow got despite scoring a second half goal from the penalty spot. Darragh O’Brien effort their only second half score.

Any Carlow comeback was stopped in its tracks by Meath as they turned on the style with a strong final quarter and grabbed a goal of their own, through Shane McEntee, to put the gloss on an improved performance and seal their place in the next round.
