Controversial referee Martin Sludden has been named on a panel of 18 to do duty in this summer’s championship.
The Tyrone man hasn’t taken charge of a senior intercounty match since his mistake cost Louth victory in last years Leinster Final, so it is a surprise to many that he has made the shortlist for 2011 action.
Sludden was out in the cold for much of the year and only took charge of Division Three and Four games during the league.
Fermanagh’s Martin Higgins is perhaps the surprise omission, while Jimmy White (Donegal) and Gearoid O Conamha (Galway) are ineligible this year as they have reached 50. Top referee,Pat McEneaney will be entering his final season as he will be overage in 2012.
