Hurling mania is on the loose with North Dublin representative side Fingal into the semi-finals of the Nicky Rackard Cup glory defeating visitors Sligo, 3-19 to 0-11 this afternoon.
London await now for the Swords based side and they will have their work cut out judging by the Northside team’s work-rate and determination
The Dublin side will be underdogs to competition favourites London in the semi-final but to this eye the Ruislip side will get a game and a half.
Aodhan McEnerney’s first half goal helped his side to a jaw dropping 1-11 to 0-3 interval lead.
The half time cuppa did nothing to slow Fingal down and they raced 18 points clear after the restart, with two further net busters to leave the visitors looking sorry for themselves at the end.
Louth are also through to the semi-finals of the Nicky Rackard Cup after a stunning win over Roscommon in Dowdallshill today. They were slaughtered by the competition favourites last weekend but stormed to a 3-9 to 1-14 win over a fancied Roscommon.
Diarmuid Murphy was the match-winner for Louth bagging two goals in a highly entertaining game.
A close first half was coming to an end when Murphy put a goal away and put the Wee County 1-8 to 0-6 ahead at the break.
Declan Nolan had Roscommon up and running again within three minutes of the restart but the action was disrupted for nearly 20 minutes after Roscommon’s Gary Fallon sustained a nasty injury.
A second Murphy goal to put Louth 2-8 to 0-7 ahead and they added a third major before Roscommon came back with a late rally.
The visitors notched 1-4 without reply, with Donie Coyne netting their goal, to cut the deficit to the minimum but Louth held on in a gritty fashion to claim a well-deserved semi spot.
