Galway full-forward Iarla Tannian looks set to miss most of the Leinster hurling championship after sustaining a serious hand injury.
Tannian was one of his county’s stars during the national league and scored 2-11 from play in five games. The player broke a thumb and ruptured ligaments in a recent club game and will miss at least seven or eight weeks of the new season.
The 27-year-old was playing for Ardrahan against Kiltormer in the Galway senior hurling championship on Sunday evening, when he picked up his injuries.
“He broke a thumb and ruptured ligaments,” said Galway boss John McIntyre. Tannion will definitely miss the Tribesmen’s opening game on June 4th and looks unlikely to make their semi-final against Dublin or Offaly two weeks later, should they progress.
