Paul Galvin looks likely to miss out on a starting place, when Kerry name their first fifteen to face Tipperary in the first round of the Munster Championship on Sunday.

Galvin has only recently returned to training after an injury enforced lay-off and may not be considered for a starting berth. However, he will almost certainly see some action at some stage of the afternoon. Kerry selector Diarmuid Murphy said on Monday night: “He has come back into training and done reasonably well. He is in there with a shout.”

Bryan Sheehan looks almost certain to start at midfield on Sunday, with Michael Quirke only just back in training. Anthony Maher is expected to get the nod to partner the St Marys man, ahead of Seamus Scanlon. Tommy Griffin has yet to make his return and at this stage it is beginning to look as if his inter-county career may be over. Mark O’Se will most likely get the full back jersey for this weekend at least.

Colm Cooper may be joined in the forwards by clubmate Kieran O’Leary, who has been showing up well in training in recent weeks. The Dr Crokes duo have caused havoc in the county league and championship in recent seasons and Jack O’Connor may be about to test the pair at the highest level.
