Rumours are rife in County Meath that former star forward Graham Geraghty is in line to make a sensational return to the inter-county scene. However, management have refused to confirm or deny the reports.

Speaking to hoganstand.com on Friday afternoon, assistant manager Liam Harnan was unable to offer any insight into the prospect of the player returning to the Royals panel for the championship. The rumour mill has been working overtime during the past 24 hours that Geraghty, who retired from inter-county football in 2009 , may be in contention for a role in the quarter-final against either Kildare or Wicklow on June 5.

Geraghty is currently managing Westmeath club side Castledaly, who have lost their first two games in the local Senior Football Championship, and won’t be in championship action again until mid-July.

It has also been suggested that Darren Fay has returned to the panel after a two-year absence, but again, Harnan was unable to again the confirm if this is the case. The 35-year-old is now playing his club football with Dunderry after transferring from Trim at the start of the year.
