Cork 1-23 0-12 Clare, Pairc Ui Chaoimh FT
Cork proved far too strong for Clare in their Munster Senior Football Championship clash at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday afternoon. The All Ireland champions had 14 points to spare at the finish.

The Rebels started well and had scores from Goulding and O’Connor, before Clare got off the mark through Gary Brennan after seven minutes. Rory Donnelly then leveled up the tie,but Sheehan put Cork back in front. Goulding and Sheehan again then added further scores for Cork. Ciaran Sheehan added another fine point, before O’Connor got the home sides goal on 24 minutes. Goulding added two points before the break to leave the rebels well in control.

Cork kept the pace up after the restart with quick points from O’Neill,Kerrigan and Shields, which gave them a 1-16 to 0-11 lead. Clare tried hard but the wides they accumulated in the first half haunted them late on. Alan O’Connor was on target as the rebels added additional late scores to run out comfortable winners. Clare had Graham Kelly sent off in injury time but it mattered little. Cork will face much stiffer tests as the year goes on, but they got their championship off to the perfect start here.
