It has been reported on Thursday, that Barney Allen and Cyril Creavin are set to fill the vacant selector roles vacated by Liam Harnan and Barry Callaghan on the Meath senior football team.
Today’s Irish Independent says that County Board Chairman Allen and Secretary Creavin will take over the positions on a short term basis, as Meath’s first Championship of the season is only two weeks ago. The Royals play Kildare in their opening game and officials are anxious to have a new backroom team in place for that game.
A statement issued yesterday also stated that the new selectors, when they are eventually appointed must be from within the county. It is understood that permanent selectors are likely to be in place before Meath’s second Championship match, which is scheduled for the end of June.
