Joe Canning and Ger Farragher have both been ruled out of the Galway hurling team for the Leinster quarter-final against Westmeath on Saturday evening.
The duo have failed to recover from injury and manager John McIntyre confirmed on Monday that neither player would start this weekend. Canning has a hamstring injury, while Farragher is in trouble with his knee. It is likely that both men will be on the bench.
“That’s as much as we can hope for,” said McIntyre. “Neither of them will start and we won’t know until later in the week whether they will be able to tog out and be among the subs.”
The latest withdrawals mean that the tribesmen are short of options up front. Iarla Tannian, has already been ruled out with a fractured thumb,Alan Kerins is unavailable and there is a doubt about Niall Donoghue.
