As reported on Sportsnewsireland on Wednesday, The Queen’s Carlton House will take his place in the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday after showing no ill effects from an injury scare.
Connections of the colt, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, issued an upbeat bulletin on Thursday night, following the horses four-furlong canter in Newmarket this morning.
“We are pleased to report that Carlton House did a good exercise this morning and he is very much still on target for Saturday’s Investec Derby,” Her Majesty’s racing manager John Warren said.
The impressive winner of the Dante Stakes at York had been as big as 9/2 for the Epsom showpiece, but has now settled down at 9/4 with all the major layers as well as on the exchanges. It now seems likely the the colt will go to post a warm favourite for this weekends Classic as he bids to give The Queen her first victory in the race.
