Leinster JFC semi-finals
Dublin 0-05 1-09 Kildare, Parnell Park FT

Kildare defeated Dublin in their Leinster Junior Football Championship tie at a wet and windy Parnell Park on Wednesday night. The visitors got off to a flying start and try as they might, the Dubs could never really get back into the game.

The Lilywhites scored a goal with their very first attack of the match after 60 seconds following a pass from Paddy Dunne to Mat Kelly. The Lilywhites followed this goal with 3 points without reply from Ciaran Kelly. and were 1-03 to no score ahead before Gary Seaver finally got the home side on the board. Mikey Conway was running the show for Kildare and there was little the Blues defence could so to combat his excellent form on the evening. After 25 minutes, the men in white led by 1-05 to 0-1 and already there looked no way back for Dublin. Conway added another point just before the interval to send his side in at the break leading by 1-06 to 0-1.

The visitors increased their lead on the resumption with a point in the third minute from Darrock Mulhall, before a free from Harry Dawson gave Dublin only their second score of the match. Seavers pointed to narrow the gap further and Odhran McCann also got on the scoresheet to give the home supporters some cause for optimism. Conway replied for Kildare and that left the score standing at 1-08 to 0-4. John Noonan pointed late on and Kildare could even afford the luxury of missing a penalty in the dying minutes from Conway.

Kildare were far the better team on the night and adapted to the conditions right from the throw in. Mickey Conway was outstanding for the winners and called the shots throughout to set up a Leinster final against Cavan.. Yes CAVAN
