Tom Queally, rider of Frankel gave a warning to their rivals when he declared that the son of Galileo is primed for another huge run in the St James Palace Stakes next Tuesday on the opening day of Royal Ascot.
Frankel has not been since his jaw dropping display in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket at the end of April. That day Frankel blitzed his rivals in a dispaly of raw power, talent and sheer class. Speaking today Queally feels that Frankel is ready to do the same at Ascot.
“”Reports have been very good from home, and he has come out of his race very well.
“His brilliance at Newmarket, well it was amazing – it made for a very special moment. People were blown away by it and will remember what he did that day for a long time to come.
“I’ve met old men who have been watching racing for many, many years, and they said they’d never seen anything like it.
“I got a feel off him that I’ve never experienced from a horse before – and I ride dozens of horses every week.
“Frankel and I had opened up a big gap, but it did not feel as if we were blitzing it, as he was doing it all within himself, and of course he finished off the race well too.
“Some jockeys will never ride a horse half as good as Frankel, so I am in a very privileged position. But I still have a job to do and have to treat him like any other horse”
Frankel is as short as 1-3 in places for the Group 1 contest over a mile on the same card that will see the mouth watering clash between Canford Cliffs and Goldikova in the Queen Anne Stakes.
