Henry Cecil’s 2000 Guineas winner Frankel will face eight rivals in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday afternoon. Alexander Pope, Fury, Tazahum and Temps Au Temps were all taken out at the final declaration stage this morning.
“Frankel seems very well and hopefully he will have a very good chance of continuing his unbeaten winning run,” trainer Sir Henry Cecil said on his website.
“He has been hailed as a future champion and if he can go on from where he left off and confirms that status it will be great for racing.”
Frankel will face Dubawi Gold, who was second at Newmarket and the Ballydoyle horse Zoffany. Dream Ahead and Wootton Bassett are the other serious contenders, while Excelebration, Japanese challenger Grand Prix Boss, Neebraas and Rerouted complete the line-up.
