Carlton House heads Irish Derby field

Carlton House leads the nine horses that have been declared for Sunday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the six-day stage.

Owned by The Queen, the colt was sent off favourite for the Epsom Derby at Epsom but had to settle for third behind Pour Moi and Treasure Beach.The latter is also entered in the race. Native Khan, who finished in fifth is another that will start at the Curragh. Johnny Murtagh has been confirmed to take the ride.

Aidan O’Brien is looking for his sixth successive win in the race, his ninth in total, and he has a strong entry, headed by Treasure Beach.

Memphis Tennessee and Seville, fourth and tenth at Epsom, and Irish 2000 Guineas winner Roderic O’Connor are all still engaged.However Recital has been ruled out.

Dunboyne Express for Kevin Prendergast, Notable Graduate(Dermot Weld) and Best Hello(Paul Deegan) complete the field.
