Laois county board chairman Brian Allen has said that he would not rule out the possibility of the senior hurlers playing in the Christy Ring Cup next season, after their recent hammering by Cork.
The side were beaten 10-20 to 1-13 in Portlaoise and manager Brendan Fennelly later admitted that the team’s build up had not been a successful one. Allen told The Leinster Express newspaper that the senior hurlers may drop down in grade if it has any chance of improving their team
“If that’s what it takes, we’ll have to look at it, and tease it out with the people involved. Maybe it’s not what people want, maybe they want to hurl in the top flight, but this is not the first time this (a heavy defeat) has happened,” said Allen.
“We lost to Tipperary and Galway in the past and our qualifiers’ record is bad. We seem to think the qualifiers is something we have to do, to get through it and then get back to our clubs.”
