The Stobart Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes promises to be the race of the year with a clash of champions in the Group 1 contest taking place at the Curragh this Saturday.
Epsom and Irish Oaks heroine Snow Fairy, Breeders Cup winner Midday trained by Sir Henry Cecil and Misty For Me, recent winner of the Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas are all among the eight runners, who also include Aoife Alann, Chrysanthemium, Claoimh Solais, Empowering and Obama Rule. The race is also part of the Breeders Cup Challenge Series.
There is a quality line up for tomorrow’s featured Irish Daily Mail International Stakes with Famous Name, Jan Vermeer, Mid Mon Lady, Last Crusade and Elusive Pimpernel trained by John Dunlop in the Britain among the five runners for the Group 3 race. The first of six races starts at 6pm on Friday with the 25 runners lining up for the Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Maiden
Indications are that Carlton House, owned by Queen Elizabeth, will create history by becoming the first horse owned by a member of the British royal family to run in the 146th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. Runners for the Group 1 Classic will be confirmed tomorrow at 10am.
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival will feature the Good Food Ireland Village which will be open throughout the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will both be major fashion days, with spectacular prizes for the Whitewater Shopping Centre sponsored Best Accessorised Outfit and Most Perfect Legs and Best Manicured Nails supported by Sally Hansen on Saturday, while the Most Stylish Lady on Sunday will win a 5 star holiday to Dubai courtesy of Dubai Duty Free.
