Olympic games officials have said that thousands of fans who believed they had been successful in purchasing tickets on Friday may be disappointed and later find out that they were unsuccessful.
It is estimated that up to 15,000 people who put their names down for the precious documents may be left without anything, as an error by organisers allowed them to purchase non existent tickets. The system is run by computer and operated on a first come, first served basis. Due to the error, fans were able to put in their details and apply for tickets that may have already been sold out.
While any fans who missed out on tickets will obviously have their money refunded in full, it is still likely to be a bitter disappointment to those who appeared to have claimed precious tickets.
