Special Olympics Day Four Review

The medals keep on coming as another strong day saw Team Ireland add to their medal tally on the fourth day of the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games.

Strong performances in the Bowling, Gymnastic and Equestrian events saw Team Ireland win 11 medals, including 5 golds.

In the men’s doubles bowling competition Paul Bridgman & Michael Hardiman, and Ciaran Mallon & Jonathon Griffin put in a great displays for both teams to win gold medals.

At the gymnastics arena, Laura Rumball won one silver & two bronze medals while her team mate, Carole Ryan took two gold medals following her Artistic gymnastics routine.

Our equestrian athletes had a busy day with John Loughane winning a 4th place ribbon, Conor MacGearailt, Pamela Collins and Sally Duffy won silver medals and Steven Yetman winning a gold medal

Meanwhile the men’s football team racked up win in both the 11 a aside and 5 a side events, with the 11-a-side team put in a winning performance against India securing them a 5 – 1 victory while the 5-a-side team beat Finland 2 – 0.
