Carlos Tevez is set to stay with Manchester City after seeing a proposed move to Inter Milan come to nothing.

The inspirational captain has been linked with a move away from City since admitting he was suffering from home sickness and submitting a transfer request.

However City’s attempts to broker a swap deal with Inter involving Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o have come to nothing and the player will now remain in Manchester for the moment at least.

Mancini had been willing to sanction Tevez’s departure but wanted the former Barcelona striker as his readymade replacement something Inter Milan were not prepared to do.

Mancini confirmed that Tevez would stay saying “Tevez will stay,” said the Italian tactician. “He is a fantastic player. There was talk of an exchange with Eto’o, but Inter did not want to sell.”
