An Ireland select XV will face Connacht in a match at Donnybrook Stadium on August 18th in a game that will form part of Ireland’s bulld up to September’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The game will be an important match for both sides as Connacht will be able to use the game to infuse the likes of new signings Henry Fa’afili and Ethienne Reynecke into their squad ahead of their maiden voyage into the Heineken Cup this coming season.

Connacht coach Eric Elwood will be looking forward to the game as his side has already impressed him during the early stages of pre-season “We’re very happy with how the squad has gelled together, it can be difficult when you have 15 new players coming into a squad but they’ve put in a huge effort over the last two weeks and we’re very happy with how things are progressing”.

For the Irish team it will serve as a useful excirse as they build up towards the Rugby World Cup. Aside from Conacht the national team will play Scotland away, France home and away and England at the Aviva Stadium.
