Ireland open Davis cup clash with victory

Conor Niland carried his recent good form into the Davis Cup as he helped Ireland to a win in the opening day’s singles of the Euro/Africa Zone Group II play-off clash against Tunisia.

The Limerick man, who recently qualified for the first round proper of Wimbledon, beat Anis Ghorbel in straight sets 6-4 6-2 6-1.

Barry King is next up for Ireland when he faces Tunisia’s top player Malek Jaziri in the 2nd singles.
