Bayern Munich have switched their attentions to Chelsea defender Alex are being rebuffed their attempts to bring Jerome Boateng back to Germany.

According to Sport1, the Bavarian giants baulked at the 20 million pound price tag that City placed on the 22 year old defender.

Boateng, who can play anywhere across the back line, is keen to leave the club having struggled with injury and form since his move from Hamburg last summer, however unless City lower their asking their price any move could be on loan initially.

While Boateng may still leave Manchester, it seems that Bayern have already moved targets and are lining up the 28 year old Alex to plug their gaps at the back.

The former PSG defender has struggled to nail down a place at Stamford Bridge with John Terry and David Luiz the preferred first choices and with Andre Villas-Boas reportedly keen on Rolando, his days as a first choice replacement could also be coming to an end.

Alex would be a cheaper alternative for Bayern who are also interested in Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito.
