According to reports in caughtoffside.com Manchester United are lining up Napoli’s Marek Hamsik as an alternative to top targets Wesley Snjeider and Samir Nasri.
While rumours of a move for Nasri look to be wide of the mark especially with strong speculation linking Manchester City with the player should Arsenal dispense with his services a move for Inter Milan star Sneijder, who is Sir Alex Ferguson’s number one target this summer, is very much on the card and the club are trying hard to close out a 40 million deal.
According to the report should the move for the Dutch international fail then Ferguson will switch his intentions to the 23 year old Hamsik who has earned rave reviews for his form in Seria A since joining Napoli from Brescia.
AC Milan have also been linked with the Slovakian international news that has seen Napoli put a 40 million price tag on the player to ward off potential suitors.
That sum wouldn’t pose too much of a problem for either side however should they decide to move for the playmaker.
A look at what Hamsik would bring to either side
