Mulligan withdraws from Tyrone panel

Tyrone’s championship squad will have to show all their renowned strength of character over the next few weeks, following the withdrawal of Owen Mulligan from the panel earlier this week.

Mulligan didn’t attend training on Tuesday and was missing again last night as Tyrone prepare for their third-round qualifier match against either Wicklow or Armagh. Reports within the Red Hands camp suggest that the player has become disillusioned at not being able to get his place on the starting fifteen this season.

Earlier in the year it appeared that wing back Philip Jordan had also left the panel, but Mickey Harte succeeded in getting the player to rejoin his squad. It will take another massive effort from Harte if he is to get Mulligan to return. Either way it is not the ideal way for the county to prepare for their third round match.

Sportsnewsireland.com will have live score updates on all GAA Championship matches over the summer.
