Ipswich defender Shane O’Connor could be set to leave the club as he seeks to play regular football.
The 21-year-old has failed to make an impression on Paul Jewell, featuring in only one game since the former Wigan manager took over from Roy Keane and was left out of the 23-man squad which travelled to Holland for the pre-season tour last week.
Despite having only one year of his contract remaining and being forced to train with the under-18 team the Republic of Ireland under-21 international admitted his happy at the club but acknowledged his desire to play on a more frequent basis. I want to be playing for Ipswich and I will keep knocking on the door of the squad and the first team”.
“I think I could do well in the Championship but different managers like different things and you have to respect that.
“I am not really sure what is going to happen. I am at an age where I want and need to be playing.”
O’Connor joined Ipswich after a trial in the summer of 2009 having been released by Liverpool’s.
