Swansea have handed a one-year contract extension to Dubliner Thomas Butler.
The talented midfielder has been with Swansea since 2006 but has yet to feature under Brendan Rogers due to an injury sustained in April 2010.
However Rodgers has confirmed the club have offered the 30 year old, capped twice by Ireland, a one-year deal and as one of the few players with premiership experience Rogers feels the former Sunderland player has a lot to offer his team.
Speaking about the new deal Rogers said” Tommy has been offered another year’s deal and he will sign this week, I felt it was only fair to Tommy because his contract was up and I haven’t seen him play since I came to the club”.
“He’s actually one of the few players to have played in the Premier League, so I felt it was a fair to give him an opportunity and chance. He knows he has a lot of work to do in terms of his fitness we will review it from there.”
