Liverpool and Arsenal may be about to re-enter the transfer market after news that Aly Cissokho has said that he wants to leave Lyon and play in the Premier League.
Both sides are in the market for a left full-back with Liverpool left short in that department for most of last season. Gael Clichy had been a target but he went to Manchester City in a £7m move. Arsenal are looking for a replacement for Clichy and 23-year-old Cissokho is now a possible target for the Gunners.
Lyon coach Remi Garde told L’Equipe that the club would be prepared to let the player leave if a suitable offer was received:
“Aly is an important player for us, but if an offer matches our expectation, he is likely to go”.
Now Cissokho has said that he wants to leave Lyon and move to the Premiership:
“I am happy to be in a great club with great players but I do give preference to the English League”.
“I have an idea in my head but for now I will prepare myself for the next season. The situation is somewhat special but I have to prepare myself for next season wherever I play.”
