Six Irish players were involved in the second round of the Green Property Men’s Irish Open $15,000 ITF Futures event at Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club earlier today.
In the first match of the day on court 2, Frenchman Albano Olivetti defeated James Cluskey in straight sets 75 75 in a tight match that lasted 1 hour and 51 minutes.
At the same time on Court 1, the all Irish clash of Barry King and Ciaran Fitzgerald took place with King beating Fitzgerald 62 61.
Mark Bowtell, who earned his first ATP point earlier in the week faced Fabrice Martin (FRA) and he lost that match 62 64.
In the lunchtime match on the show court, Irish Davis Cup player James McGee beat Emililen Firmin (FRA) in straight sets 60 76(5)
In the final match of the day, Limerick-man Sam Barry lost to the number 1 seed Charles-Antoine Brezac of France in a really entertaining match which lasted 3 hours 63 46 76(2) . Brezac has a current ATP World ranking of 261.
