Tiger Woods is on the look out for a new caddie after firing his long-time partner, Steve Williams. While the decision is understood to have been made two weeks ago it was only made public this week.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help but I think it’s time for a change,” Woods said on his website.
“Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future.”
The duo combined to win13 major championships a record unmatched by any other player-caddie partnership in the history of the golf. Williams, who caddied for Adam Scott at last weeks Open was shocked to learn of his sacking:
“After 13 [sic] years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock,” Williams said. “Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger’s scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries, I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time.”
