SHOW JUMPING – HUGHES WINS PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX

PORTUGUESE-based Irish rider Marion Hughes ran up a hat-trick of victories at the two-star show in Vimeiro, Portugal this weekend, culminating with a win in this evening’s (Sunday) Grand Prix.

With her Irish-bred chestnut mare ‘Heritage HHS Fortuna’, the Kilkenny native streaked home in the jump-off with a more-than-comfortable 3.85 seconds in hand over local challenger Francisco Rocha, and beating 57 other competitors to collect the 6,000 euro first prize.

With the same horse, Hughes also won Friday’s jump-off class at Vimeiro, and on Saturday claimed another jump-off victory with ‘Crispien’.
