Wigan interested in Murphy

According to reports on STV Wigan Athletic are interested in Motherwell winger Jamie Murphy.

Roberto Martinez has yet to make a formal move for the 21 year old the Spanish tactician is thought to be keeping tabs on Murphy.

The former Swansea manager is no stranger to raiding Scotland for up and coming talent having signed Conor Sammon, James McArthur and James McCarthy in recent seasons and he could be about to add to that tally.

However Wigan will face competition from Spurs, WBA, Wolves and Stoke who are all keen on the Scottish Under-21 International.

A product of the Motherwell youth academy Murphy broke into the Motherwell first-team debut in the 2006-07 season. Since then he has gone on to score 16 goals in 120 games for the Lanarkshire club.
