Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are all red alert after it emerged that contract talks between James McCarthy and Wigan have broken down.

According to the Daily Mail despite two rounds of talks both the player and club have reached an impasse and are no nearer a deal. At this point there are no details available as to where is stalling McCarthy accepting the clubs new deal.

The Republic of Ireland international is highly rated at Wigan who would command a fee of around £15million for the 20 year old.
