West Bromwich Albion have successfully secured the season long loan signing of Ben Foster from Birmingham City.

Roy Hodgson had been on the lookout for a new keeper following the departure of Scott Carson to Buraspor in Turkey and had been keen to bring the former Manchester United keeper to Hawthorns.

West Brom have finally reached a deal that will see Boaz Myhill move in the opposite direction, meaning that both of last season’s keeping choices have now left the club.

The 28 year old Foster joined Birmingham from United last summer in a six million deal and despite helping the club to the Carling Cup failed to prevent their slide of the EPL.

Speaking about his latest summer signing, former Fulham boss Hodgson was clearly a happy man “We are very, very happy that the deal to bring Ben from Birmingham has gone through”

“He was always the goalkeeper that we targeted as our number one choice for the season and we are hoping he will be as successful here as he has been with his previous clubs.

“We are confident Ben is the goalkeeper we need to help us enjoy a successful season in the Premier League.”

Sportsnewsireland.com will have live score updates on all GAA Championship matches over the summer.
