Second meet tenth as Derry travel to meet basement side Galway Utd in the Airtricity League Premier Division game which has a 7.45pm kick off at Terryland Park on Friday night.

Derry have been riding high so far in the league and are only a point behind Sligo at the top of the league table. Striker Eamon Zayed has been leading the way for the Candystripes with 17 goals in what has been a profitable campaign for the striker.

Manager Stephen Kenny has done a wonderful job with his squad this season combining a potent mixture of youth and experience into what many people in Irish soccer to be a championship winning side.

Derry, who have won two out of their last three games, could be without the services of star winger Gareth McGlynn who was stretched off during Airtricity League XI side 5-0 defeat by Celtic at the Aviva Stadium last Sunday.

Kenny also expects there to be a number of changes throughout his team for the clash against Galway “There will be a couple of changes from the side that played against Dundalk, however, as Gareth is obviously extremely doubtful and Daniel Lafferty is suspended”

Galway meanwhile come into this game in desperate need of a win having only managed five points so far this season. In their last five games they have lost 6-1 to Dundalk and 8-0 to Sligo. They have also only managed one win in total this season.

It would be the shock of the season if Derry were to slip up against Galway in this match. Derry are taking as the confident vote to collect the three points on offer and continue their push for the league title.
