The Champions league play off draw has pitted Arsenal with Italian side Udinese. Both sides finished fourth in their domestic leagues, with Manchester City beating Arsene Wenger’s men to the third automatic qualifying spot.

Arsenal were seeded for the draw, which took place in Nyon, and they will be in action over a two-legged fixture on the August 16/17 and 23/24.

Arsenal’s task will be made that slightly bit harder as they will be missing Arsene Wenger, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie. Nasri and Wenger were sanctioned by UEFA following their reactions to the sending of Van Persie against Barcelona last season.

Copenhagen FC, conquerors of Irish side Shamrock Rovers, will face Viktoria Plzen while Champions league veterans Lyon face a tough ask against Rubin Kazan.

Champions League play-off round:
Wisla Krakow v Apoel FC
Maccabi Haifa v Genk
Dinamo Zagreb v Malmo
FC Copenhagen v Viktoria Plzen
BATE Borisov v Sturm Graz
Odense v Villarreal
FC Twente v Benfica
Arsenal v Udinese
Bayern Munich v FC Zurich
Lyon v Rubin Kazan
