Europa League draw

Shamrock Rovers, who crashed out of the Champions League qualifying stages at the hands of FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, have been paired with Serbian champions FK Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League play-off draw.

The first leg will take on the 18th August with Partizan making their way to Tallaght in what promises to be an exciting encounter .The second leg will take place a week later on the 25th August. Should Rovers win then they will become the first Irish side to qualify for the group stages of the Europa league.

Meanwhile Spurs will take on Hearts for the first time ever in a competitive game while Celtic will take on Swiss cup winners FC Sion.

Fulham faces a difficult task against Ukrainian outfit Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk while Glasgow Rangers will be hoping to avoid a banana skin against Slovenian side Maribor.

Finally Stoke and Championship side Birmingham also learned their faith and will be fairly confident of further progression after they were paired Swiss side FC Thun and Portuguese side Nacional respectively.

Meanwhile 2010 winner Atletico Madrid will open their campaign against Portuguese side Vitoria last years runner up Braga against Young Boys from Switzerland.
