According to reports in the Daily Express, Newcastle United are interested in Spurs striker Roman Pavyuchenko with magpies boss Alan Pardew reportedly lining up a 10 million bid for the 29 year old.
Newcastle are on the look out for a new striker to replace Andy Carroll, who left last January, and have so far brought in Demba Ba from West Ham on a free.
Pardew came close to signing PSG forward Mevlut Erding but the move for the Turkish star fell through and the former West Ham manager has now switched his sights to Pavyuchenko.
The Russian international have never really been given a proper run in the Spurs line up but has proved reliable when called upon.
The striker is reportedly keen to remain at White Hart lane and his agent Oleg Artemov was recently quoted as telling the Daily Star that his client would not be leaving Spurs with Peter Crouch ahead of him in the departure lounge and more likely to leave “I expect to talk nearer to the transfer window’s closing time”.
“At the moment he [Levy] is too busy. He needs to sell players and to buy new ones. Two or three teams are interested in Peter Crouch. So he is most likely to be the one of the five Spurs attackers to leave.”
