The international friendly scheduled for Wednesday night between England and Holland at Wembley has been called off due to the rioting in London.

Football had already been affected with West Ham and Charlton cancelling their Carling Cup home matches against Aldershot and Reading, which were due to be played tonight. Crystal Palace’s match with Crawley at Selhurst Park has also been abandoned. As violence escalated over the last few hours, police in the capital are unable to send enough officers to Wembley for tomorrow night’s match and so it could not proceed.
