A great crowd attended the Galway Bay hotel to witness the launch of Connacht’s new sponsors Mazda.

‘Success, not survival’ was the theme of the evening. It is ‘a new beginning’ according to new President of Connacht John Carr.

‘Connacht Rugby is a great fit for our brand’ said Micheal Howe of Mazda Ireland

Eric Elwood welcomed new players who he described as being tremendous so far. He talked about how everyone now involved in Connacht rugby are going forward together – on and off the park.

When considering the venture into Heineken Cup rugby, he said ” the challenges are going to be massive, yes we’re in with the big boys, but it’s where we want to be, every athlete wants to play at the highest level, we will be prepared, we will give it one hundred percent”

In thanking Micheal Howe and Mazda Ireland, Eric commented that it is ‘ a great partnership’ both having much pride in their products. Finally Eric finished by thanking existing and loyal supporters, and welcoming the many new fans that have purchased tickets for the season ahead.
