Local bookmakers think that Aidan O’Brien could be set for a successful trip stateside this weekend as they have installed his two runners, Cape Blanco and Treasure Beach, favourites for the Arlington Million and Secretariat Stakes respectively.

The colts, who have won the last two running’s of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, have also been allocated preferred stalls positions. Cape Blanco, who will be ridden again by Jamie Spencer, has been drawn in stall seven out of ten as he attempts to land his second American Grade 1 in a row after landing after landing the Man O War Stakes last time out at Belmont Park.

The Galileo colt is as short as 9-5 to confirm places with the runner up in the Man O War Gio Ponti who is second favourite at 2-1. Also taking their chance in the Million is the Michael Bell trained Wigmore Hall who will be ridden by Hayley Turner who could be an each way bet at 8-1.

Treasure Beach meanwhile will be looking to put his disappointing run in the Grand Prix De Paris when he lines up in the Secretariat Stakes and he is a 2-1 favourite to add to his Irish Derby success.

Colm O’Donoghue, who partnered the colt to victory at the Curragh will again be in the plate on Saturday night. The pair will break from gate 3 of 10 with their main rival looking to be the Aga Khan’s Group 3 winner Ziyarid.

Should either Cape Blanco or Treasure Beach win on Saturday night it will be a second success in either race for trainer Aidan O’Brien. He previously won the Million with Powerscourt in 2005 and he trained Ciro who took the Secretariat.

Although the card from Chicago hasn’t been covered in England or Ireland for a number of years Racing UK will have coverage from the course throughout Saturday night on what could be another memorable night for team Ballydoyle.
