Tottenham Hotspur are set to take ex-Arsenal player Emmanuel Adebayor on a season long-loan from Manchester City in a bid to strengthen their attacking options.
Roberto Mancini is keen to get the Togolese striker away from his squad as he sees him as a bad influence and sent him on loan to Real Madrid for the second half of last season.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has expressed interest in Adebayor previously and has grown frustrated with the inflated asking prices for top level strikers during the transfer window, Spurs were keen on Villareal’s Giuseppi Rossi but baulked at the asking price of around €40m.
The wage structure at Spurs has also been a factor but City have agreed to subsidise Adebayor’s €125,000 weekly pay cheque in order to get him off the books.
Redknapp is desperate to add a consistent threat up front after Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe failed to find the net regularly last season.
