Arsenal are expected to strengthen their squad over the coming weeks following their disappointing 0-0 opening day draw at Newcastle United.
With Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri both expected to leave the Emirates in the coming days, the Gunners need to use the last two weeks of the current transfer window to buy a couple of quality players. The club will gain almost £50 million from the sale of the duo and need to spend wisely in the little time that they have left.
The Mail on Sunday are reporting that Arsene Wenger is keen on a move for Everton and England centre back Phil Jagielka. However, David Moyes values the defender at £20 million and that is currently above Arsenal’s valuation. Unless a compromise can be reached it is unlikely a deal can be done.
Meanwhile, The Metro are linking Arsenal to two Ligue 1 stars, Marseille winger Andre Ayew and Sochaux midfielder Marvin Martin. The pair are available and should cost the Gunners considerably less than Premiership based players.
