Aston Villa and Swansea have joined the race for World Cup winning striker David Trezeguet, who is a free agent following his release from relegated Spanish side Hercules.

The former Juventus man has also attracted interest from Russian club Terek Grozny and French side St Etienne.

The 33 year old who has been training with former club Monaco has expressed his desire to finish his career in his native country but is keeping his options open in the hopes of landing a two year contract.

Villa are keen to add to their attacking options having sold Stewart Downing and Ashley Young this summer while Swans boss Brendan Rogers is keen to bring in an experienced striker.
