Chelsea look set to make a bid for Liverpool’s Portuguese international Raul Meireles.
The former Porto player is keen to link up with his ex boss Andre Villas-Boas and a deal could be done for around £12 million.
Although he only joined Liverpool a year ago and scored five goals in his first season in the Premiership, Meireles will be allowed to leave Anfield to help offset the club’s £100million summer spending spree. While Kenny Dalglish had hoped to sell the player to a foreign side,he will almost certainly allow him move to London if Chelsea match the valuation Liverpool have placed on him.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas knows the player well from their time together at Porto and feels that Meireles will prove the ideal replacement for long term summer target Luka Modric.
